Tips on walking to campus/taking the bus

I have lived close to campus and far from campus so I know how it feels to take the bus. UF does not have easy parking during the day so it is inevitable to either have to walk to class or take the bus. I will give you tips on either taking the bus or walking to campus.

Taking the bus:
  • Prepare your breakfast and eat it on the bus. (eggs, oatmeal, yogurt)
  • Give yourself at least an hour to walk to the bus stop, wait for the bus and get to campus. No one wants to be late for class!
  • Have everything you need with you! Trust me it’s not easy to get back home.
  • Prepare to stay on campus for awhile.
  • Do not try to take the bus home later than 7 or 8 p.m.
  • Be aware of detours.
  • Get the Riders app on your phone to make sure when the bus is coming.
Walking
  • Give yourself 20-30 mins to walk to campus if you live within walking distance usually it shouldn’t take more than 15 mins.
  • Bring a jacket, rain jacket, rain boots because you don’t want to get rained on or walk in the cold.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. No one wants blisters.
  • Do not carry a very heavy backpack. It will really hurt your back after awhile if you’re carrying heavy things all day.
  • It’s harder to eat on the go so pack your food and eat when you stop.
  • Be careful walking during the night hours.
